2003 NEWS

From Dec. 15 to 18, 2003, Dr. George Luz (Filipino), the Coordinator of the AMBIONET (Asian Maize Biotechnology Network), came to SAU to inspect the 2003's work of the Institute of Maize, which was carrying on a joint program with the AMBIONET, and a new working plan of 2004 was mapped out.

From Dec. 13 to 20, 2003,Mr. Frits Droge and Mr. Berend Van Wyk from Van Hall Institute, the Netherlands, came to our university to summarize the 2003's work of the Asia-link Project. They held a seminar for the teachers of the project and discussed 2004's working plan with them.

From Dec. 11 to 13, 2003,Dr. Daniel P. Jeffers, the expert of the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center U.S.A., came to our Institute of Maize for an academic exchange.

Nov. 5, 2003, Dr. Fan Rujie, a Canadian expert of animal health of "China & Canada Lean-meat Project", came to visit our university. He gave a lecture on "The Trend of Pig Raising & the Importance of Biological Safety Measures in Pig Raising ".

From Oct. 30 to Nov. 7, 2003,A group of 7 visiting scholars from Helsinki University Finland, including Dr. Kristina Lindstrom, Dr. Maruritz Vestberg, Dr. Petri Leinonen and Dr. Jaana Vaisanen, visited our university at the invitation of Prof. Zhang Xiaoping of SAU. They delivered four such lectures as "Agricultural Production in Finland", "Biological Nitrogen Fixation of Red Clover", etc during their visit.

From September 25 to 26,2003,At the invitation of Zhang Min, the Vice-Rector of the Agricultural College(SAU), Dr. Michael E. Montgomery, the Northeastern Forestry Experiment Station of the Forestry Bureau of U.S.A. and Dr. Yu Guoyue, President of Plant and Environmental Protection College of Beijing Agricultural Material Institute, visited our university and gave lectures.

September 17, 2003, Prof. Paul, expert of meadow science from Nordrhein Westfalen Germany, came to our university for a visit. Prof. Deng Liangji, Vice-President of SAU hosted him. They had an exchange of views on the cooperation in the production of forage-grass seed and artificial meadow's improvement and development.
